Control Unit
The MCS-D 200 control unit can operate a digital conference and interpretation system with a maximum of 1,000 delegate and interpreter stations. The NetRateBus provides 54 multifunctional audio channels which can be allocated to different meetings. These audio channels allow a lot of applications such as discussing, interpreting, phoning from one microphone station to the other and linking external participants to a meeting via phone conferencing. The control unit features an integrated power supply for a maximum of 15 microphone stations. Optionally the control unit is available with two power supplies to supply a maximum of 30 microphone stations. When there are more than 30 microphone stations to be supplied, additional power supply units are required. The system is configured by using the integrated display and multifunctional buttons or the iCNS operating and configuration software. The configuration includes selecting various operating and voting modes. By using the iCNS software you can select settings such as voting modes, graphical control, data band and video camera control in addition to operating modes and configuration of microphone stations as chairman stations. Via the control unit you can configure microphone station IDs, chairman stations, interpreting channels, audio interfaces and operating modes.

The CA 4588 digital/analogue interface with 3 interface units, each of them with 2 analogue audio inputs and outputs and one 2-channel AES/EBU XLR output has been designed for the connection of external analogue audio devices to the MCS-D system. The power supply is effected via a bus system; channels are configured, selected and allocated via the control unit or the iCNS software.
Audio IN can be switched to any number of audio channels of the system. Any number of audio channels of the system is possible via Audio OUT.
Due to the remote control the CA 4588 is automatically recognised by the configuration menu of the control unit or iCNS software. The control unit and the PC display the level.
Power supply for up to 45 microphone units
The CA 4146 power supply unit is used when more than 30 devices are to be used with the MCS-D 200 control unit. The CA 4146 power supply unit can be used as a desktop device or mounted into a 19″ rack. One CA 4146 power supply unit can power up to 45 devices (e.g. microphone units, adaptors). Please note this is only a theoretical value. The actual number of devices (e.g. microphone units, adaptors) also depends on the cable length.
The CA 4146 power supply unit is also redundant as device: If one power supply unit fails to operate, the other power supply units provide the required power even when the failed power supply unit is hot-wired. The power supply unit provides 4 push-pull sockets: two Data Ports and two Extension Ports. The Data Ports are passive connectors, i.e. the connected devices are not powered via the integrated power supply of the CA 4146.
The Data Ports transfer audio and control signals. They are used to connect to the control unit and other power supply units. The Extension Ports are active connectors, i.e. the connected devices (e.g. microphone units or adapters)

The conference bus repeaters can be used in the NetRateBus conference network for the extension of individual branches (CA 4212, CA 4222) or as T or X adapters (CA 4224) for new branches or loops. Furthermore, the repeaters with DC connection can be used instead of additional power supplies, e.g. when there is not enough room for an additional power supply unit.

System unit
The MCS-D 3643 system unit has been designed for “under the table installations” in conference rooms. The MCS-D 3643 provides different connections to connect external components such as buttons, a gooseneck microphone and loudspeaker via 5-pin or 7-pin Phoenix terminals and a 5-pin XLR connector. By using the Lemo sockets the MCS-D 3643 is connected to the MCS-D 200 control unit or an external CA 4146 power supply unit. The MCS-D 3643 can be used as a chairman unit with microphone, clear and priority buttons or as a delegate unit with one microphone button. The microphone button is used to turn the microphone on or off. By using the priority button the chairman can interrupt the discussion and mute all activated delegate microphone units. By using the clear button the chairman can turn off all activated delegate microphone units. The system unit is powered via the bus cable and can be placed anywhere in the bus network. The operating mode of the microphone unit is configured via the MCS-D 200 control unit or the iCNS software. In the standard mode (free switching on) the participant can use the microphone button to switch the microphone on or off. In the request-to-speak mode the microphone button is used to enter a request-to-speak. The delegate can deactivate the requestto- speak by pressing the microphone button once more. In the automatic mode, the participant’s request is registered once the maximum number of active microphones has been exceeded. If a participant switches off his/her microphone, the microphone unit is switched on automatically. In the FiFo (first in – first out) mode, the delegates speak in succession. The delegate can use the microphone button to switch on the microphone. If the maximum number of open microphones is exceeded, the microphone of the speaker who has been speaking the longest is switched off.

Piezo-switch for system unit MCS-D 3643
Control buttons can be selected and installed by the customer or system integrator. Optical and functional aspects play an important role for the selection of an external button. It is essential that the button operates silently. For microphone units beyerdynamic recommends the use of a piezo button with integrated dual colour ring. Furthermore, for chairman microphone units there are two piezo buttons available without illuminated ring, but with ”Clear” and ”Prior” description. Piezo buttons have no mechanical parts to avoid noise or abrasion. The rugged metal housing avoids damage through rough handling and is completely sealed so that no dust, dirt or liquid can enter the housing. The buttons are easy to clean with usual cleansers.
Piezo buttons must not be used for the Push-To-Talk function (PTT) of a microphone unit.

Interpreter Station MCS-D 202
The MCS-D 202 interpreter station can be connected anywhere in the system. Any number of MCS-D 202 for a maximum of 53 target languages can be used per language and booth. The access to the audio channels can be configured according to the application. For operation a gooseneck microphone and headphone or a headset can be used. The user interface is ergonomical with clearly arranged functional areas. Fully electronic and silent buttons with switching points allow comfortable use with the microphone station. The microphone station features a monitoring loudspeaker with volume control, two displays (16 characters / 2 lines) to show the menu and selected languages; output buttons for channel A and B; operating control LED, treble, bass and volume control; buttons for direct contact with the chairman or technician and cough button. The interpreting functions are integrated into the MCS-D 200 conference system, i.e. an additional control unit is not required. Interpreting functions such as available channels, groups, pre-programming of the output channels A and B are configured via the MCS-D 200 control unit. The interpreter station is powered by the bus cable and can be placed anywhere in the bus network. The interpreter station meets the requirements of the AIIC (Association Internationale des Interprètes de Conférence – International Association of Interpreters) and the appropriate standards (ISO 4043, ISO 2603, DIN 56924).
